Mechanism of Action:
The cell wall of gram-negative bacteria is thin (a few nanometers thick). This can be easily penetrated by the nanoparticles.
- Disruption of the cell wall and cytoplasmic membrane.
- The cytoplasm leaks out, and the cell structure disintegrates.
- Inhibition of DNA replication and disruption of signal transduction.
- The disintegration of the entire cell membrane by ROS and lipid peroxidation.
- Death of the cell
