Silver nanoparticles action mechanism

Mechanism of Action:

The cell wall of gram-negative bacteria is thin (a few nanometers thick). This can be easily penetrated by the nanoparticles.

  1. Disruption of the cell wall and cytoplasmic membrane.
  2. The cytoplasm leaks out, and the cell structure disintegrates.
  3. Inhibition of DNA replication and disruption of signal transduction.
  4. The disintegration of the entire cell membrane by ROS and lipid peroxidation.
  5. Death of the cell
